EXHIBITION "The Art of Reuse" - 11 – 16 December 2008
[5 October 2008]

The Institute Team for the World, in collaboration with the British Council and the National Hellenic Research Foundation, are hosting the exhibition of the English artist Ptolemy Elrington who has been using old unwanted material mainly hubcaps and super market trolleys to create sculptures.

The exhibition will be held from the 11th until the 16th of December in the National Hellenic Research Foundation , in Athens, giving the opportunity to the public to comprehend that the life cycle of a material does not stop when it is no longer in use and therefore can still be exploitable after its primary use, even through art.

During the exhibition, workshops will be carried out for children where they will have the chance to make their own creations with the help of the artist. Through this interactive activity, children will be introduced to the concept of reuse thus expanding their horizons in regards to waste reduction and recycling. Creations will include Christmas ornaments.
